So at the last minute last week we decided to take a weekend trip down to Monterey Bay. We had a really great time. We did a little of everything.
Aquarium (of course)
We found this amazing park that was hours of fun.
We rented some bikes and had this really great 2 hour long bike ride along the coastline. (by far our favorite part)
We tried a new beach each day. We tried one in Monterey, one in Marina, and one in Carmel. It was a bit windy but the ocean never dissapoints.
By the end of the 4 days, we were spent.
The kids were really fun to have there. It was so rewarding to see them enjoy themselves. Every day of the trip Andrew would say, "This is the BEST day ever!!!"
When we got home I realized that taking small family trips like this are really important. First because they make you realize that fun is such an important part of life and a few days spent playing with your children is far more rewarding than checking off 5 things on any "To Do" list. Secondly, vacations make you appreciate home. I swear my bed is more comfortable than any bed I've ever slept in. I missed my garden and my dogs. As soon as we unpacked the car, the kids were in their rooms playing with toys for a few hours.
All in all, a great time.
