A Little on the Boy

His soccer season has ended and of course the most exciting part was the trophy and metal WITH his name engraved on them. We enjoyed the season and even though we ended up 1-10. He made many friends and maybe even picked up a few skills. On to baseball in a few months.
I've been working in his classroom doing English Language Development with students in his class that are falling behind. It's been a real joy to watch him learn and interact with his class. I always worried that he wouldn't sit still long enough to soak up anything useful. But he has definitely proven himself. He is a very smart and focused student....that is until one of his classmates gets silly, then he will take a quick break and join in. I had our 1st parent teacher conference and his teacher is really pleased with him. It has been the most wonderful experience watching him learn to read. We go to the library weekly to get another huge lot of books that he is reading himself. He is really becoming a very independent, responsible, super smart little fella.

And as for the girl

What a personality she's got. She is strong, sweet, and crazy all wrapped up in one. She spends each morning rooting me on from the jogger as I am trying to get back into shape. And each afternoon singing and dancing. She is always reminding people that she is a girl when they ask her what her name is. She loves her brother dearly even though they manage to fight like dogs sometimes. She is looking forward to preschool next year but loves her time with Nana while I am at work for a few hours each week. She loves to sneak lipstick or "lippies" like she calls it. She enjoys a good tutu and would love if we would fork over $50/month for dance lessons. Soon enough! For now, we will enjoy our freeze dance in the kitchen while making dinner. She still can't live without her daily does of Backyardigans or her "happy" (blanket)
